Grendel, the fearsome monster from the epic poem Beowulf, is a character deeply rooted in mythology and literature. He is depicted as a descendant of the biblical Cain, cursed and exiled from society, forever condemned to a life of darkness and violence. Grendel's portrayal symbolizes the forces of chaos, destruction, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. In Beowulf, Grendel is described as a grotesque creature, haunting the mead hall of King Hrothgar, known as Heorot. He is driven by a deep-seated rage and jealousy towards the joy and camaraderie that he witnesses within the hall.
